Kenneth L. Zwick, Director
Office of Management Programs
Civil Division
U.S. Department of Justice

That these people are getting Federal Funds at all is wrong. People
have dies, and are dying everyday for this country. Policemen, Firemen,
Soldiers, Sailors, and Marines, those who died in the OKC bombing, those
who die every day form injuries suffered yet not acknowledged by the
country they serve.

I am sick at heart to hear these people whining. The American people
donated their hard earned dollars to funds set up to help these people
cope with their loss - this is the American way. Not arbitrarily
deciding that these people need Federal dollars to "compensate" them.

The argument may be made that those who serve locally and nationally in
the armed services and as police and firemen have volunteered to do what
they do. Yet, every American enjoys the privileges ensured by those who
serve. That these privileges should be assumed to be cost free is an
abomination. As are these payments.

Additionally, I hope that "due credit" is given the form letter which
references "low income, gay and lesbian individuals" being received by
the DOJ. That "due credit" should be absolutely none. I hold nothing
against any of these groups however to accept these letters as anything
but a political outreach program is ludicrous.
