I was in school preparing to teach my second period Spanish class. The TV was on in the teacher's room. We watched incredulously almost as if it were a movie, not real life. We were then told not to tell our students that anything had happened. It was almost impossible to teach and act normally.

The visual of the planes going into the trade center. The emotional turmoil of trying to locate my husband in Manhattan and my two sons, one in Boston, the other in High School nearby.

We no longer take our safety for granted. We are not as safe in our own country as we thought we were. My daily existence is back to normal, but long range family plans have changed and we stay closer to home.
