911DA Story: Story

Geographically, I live approximately 200 miles from NYC and yet I was personally affected by these tragedies. The Whitney Point Rescue Squad was one of the volunteer departments that went to NYC to offer their services to give relief to the rescue workers that worked around the clock in the days that followed the tragedies. As a Pastor I was called upon to offer a prayer and blessing to the men and women that volunteered to go. When I arrived at the fire station, I felt compelled to offer the men and women the option to be anointed with oil as I offered a blessing on each one. They all accepted and I was moved by the emotions that were displayed as I moved from one person to the next. We can never discount the possibility that God will use us to fulfill His purposes. Having felt that I was too distant to offer help, God opened a door for me to touch a few lives that would be in a position to touch so many others.
