911DA Story: Story

Three of us had flown into Indianapolis the evening of Sept 10 to install some software and train the software users at a human service agency. The next morning I was shaving and had the TV in the motel on to listen to the news. I stuck my head out of the bathroom to see the picture when the anchor said that a small plane had run into the World Trade Center.

There was too much smoke for a "small plane" to have hit the building. Just as I was about to go back to shaving the second plane hit the other tower.

As I looked at the images of all the pieces of paper fluttering down I thought, "There goes a lot of pension fund records". And then I was struck with the brilliance of the method: they used our planes to destroy our buildings. Almost immediately afterwards I felt a deep sadness for all the families and started praying for them to be comforted. Such a whirlwind of thoughts and emotions.

I knew that life for all of us on the planet had just changed. Those events in NYC marked a line in history: there was before 9/11 and afterwards.
