911DA Story: Story
I came downstairs to go run some early morning errands, it was about 8:30am PST. My boyfriend's roomate already had the television on. I was horrified at the sight that was in front of me. All I had inside me was a sinking feeling that made me shiver all over. The news just kept re-playing the airplanes crashing into the towers, sights of people running for their lives. Then it was like one big ball dropped in my stomache. The first tower collapsed. I burst into tears and couldn't help but think about all the people still inside the tower, on the stairs, in the elevator shaft, trying desperatly to get themselves, their friends, their loved ones, out of that building. I couldn't imagine being their for that sight, or being in tower #2 and watching tower #1 fall. I was disgusted, I watched the news all day, hoping and waiting to see the miracle of survivors in the rubble, by this time it was already discovered that the heroic passengers on the PA flight all perished and the flight that went into the Pentagon didn't cause as much damage or death as the terrorists intended.
I can still see the smoking towers, the sight as the plane hit tower #2, the crumbling of two great architectural marvals...I will always carry this with me, it will always bring tears to my eyes, I will never forget those we have lost, those that have lost, those that survived, those that risked their lives to save another. I will never forget.
