911DA Story: Story
I heard the news story in 7-11 as I was waiting for my colleague to pick me up to commute to work. It sounded unbelievable, like War of the Worlds must have sounded. How I wish it were fiction. We drove right back home when our own building was evacuated that morning. My roommate had trouble tracking down his father who worked third shift near the site. He had just left work before it happened.
I coordinate Pagan Pride activities on the west coast, and our Los Angeles event was scheduled for that Saturday. Suddenly it seemed like an inappropriate week to hold a celebration. The next night we started getting calls from some of our vendors: they wouldn?t be working the event. They had funerals to attend for friends who were on the planes. We decided to postpone our entire event, and held a vigil in the original event location on the day it was scheduled to be.
Never forget.
