Im a city employee,at the time I was spraying weed killer along a major hwy. when my supervisor came by and told me what happened,at first i thought it was a sick joke but his tone of voice startled me .He told me a jet had slammed into the world trade center, I ran to my truck to listen to the radio when the second plane hit.Ijust could not believe it,my feelings at the time were a mix of anguish and anger . I thought who in Gods name would do such a thing,I first thought it was an attack by the chinese,but after finding out the truth i could not believe it.We were on a state of high alert ,we were called to the mayors office and were ordered to stand by and wait. We thought chicago would be next.We ha d to secure all the main water pumps ,stations etc. the fire and police depts.were on alert as well and we all worked on secureing the city for the worst.As long as i may live Ishall never forget that sight of the planes ,the people and the pure horror of that day.God Bless America.
