911DA Story: Story

On the morning of September 11, 2001, I sat on my bed and went about folding laundry just as I did in my everyday routine. I was carrying our first child and was excited about the approaching birth in November. Nothing could have prepared me for the horror when I turned on the television at 9:00 a.m. My husband was at work and I felt so alone. I felt an overwhelming sadness and concern for my unborn child. What was becoming of this world he was being born into? After confirming that travelling family members were safe, I longed to be with my family. When my husband came home from work early that day we watched the events unfold and cried for the countless people who suffered. We suffered too, but in a different way. Our hearts and minds will never forget the sadness...
