911DA Story: Story
Holding my children in my lap and watching in horror as the events unfolded on every channel of the television, I could only weep. America was under attack and we stood helplessly watching as planes began to do the unthinkable. The nation stood still as our innocence was stolen. My young children asked so many questions... "Why are you crying, Mommy?" was the first.
I was so incredibly grateful to be holding my children and kissing my husband as he left for work. Throughout the day, I felt such an empty helplessness. "What can I do?" God showed me that I could seize the opportunity to teach my children about our great nation and about our great leaders. I pointed out every good deed I could find to help them see that our nation is about people and not just buildings. The kids learned about the president and his role as leader. Now, only age 4 and 7, they immediately recognize President Bush and they respect him as a man of integrity. Today as they watch the remembrances, they can fully recall the events of last year.
