I am an over the road truck driver. The morning of Sept. 11,
2001, I was sleeping in my unit at our terminal when I was
awakened by a message on my computer. It was my daughter wanting
to know where I was at.
I was in the New York area a few days before and she wanted
to make sure I was ok.
I turned on my T.V. and saw what was happening. The second plane
was just hitting the tower. I just sat there stunned,trying to comprehend
what was happening.
I didn't have to leave any time soon so,I just watched as
it all unfolded.
I sent my daughter a message that I was alright.
My wife called me with the same questions. I assured her I was
fine.
One of my brothers,who is also a truck driver,called asking where
I was and if I was ok.
I just spent most of the day watching the news,wondering
who,what and why,like most of the country was I suppose.
I was on Long Island the night they turned on the search
lights. As I went back to New Jersey around 20:30 hours,it
was quite a sight to see them!
I cannot imagine what was going through the minds of all
the people. All I could do was pray for them.
