911DA Story: Story

How did you witness history on September 11th? Share your experience. I first heard of the attack was when a customer came into the store and told us. I was with my co-worker, Janet, and we thought someone had made a mistake. Another customer came in and told us the second tower had been hit. I was shocked. I was dying for information. I wished I had a T.V. I turned on the radio in the store, searching for news and explanations. Everything was so sketchy and confused. No one really seemed to know what had happened at first. Then it came the report of the Pentagon being hit. I felt like I was living through the begining, the very first moments of world war three. And all I could do was listen to the radio.
Has your life changed because of September 11, 2001? If so, tell us how. Yes I worry more about the safety and security of my family and my country. I wonder how this could have happened and wonder if they are doing enough to prevent this from ever happening again. the security I've taken for granted in the United States has been shaken. I really have to wonder what kind of people are capable of such misdirection that they can feel justified in what they did.
What do you think should be remembered about september 11th?
The tremendous loss of life. The every day heroes. Those that marched into the face of death to help others. That we should never take our country and our freedoms and our blessings for granted.
Did you fly a flag after the events of September 11th? Have your feelings about the American flag changed as a result of September 11th? Yes! I've flown a flag ever since, and have one on my car. Yes and no. I've always had a flag and been proud of it, but now I don't save it for national holidays. I'm proud to fly it everyday and I've always said "God bless America."
