911DA Story: Story
I was at work when my mother called to tell me what happened and that a friend of the family, Stuart Meltzer, was trapped in the building. He had called his wife to say goodbye: "Honey, something terrible has happened. I don't think I'm going to make it. Take care of the children. I love you." I watched in disbelief as the towers crumbled, still holding a flicker of hope that people survived.
On September 10th, I had given my notice at work so I could stay at home with my 6 month old baby. It was a tough decision with a big loss of income and I didn't know if it was the right one. After Sept. 11, I realized that I made the right decision. Life is what's important, not money nor possessions. Family, friends, and people are what keep us going. Let's live on with the spirit of those heroes who died on September 11 and cherish every moment we have.
We'll never forget them as they'll always be in our hearts and minds.
