911DA Story: Story
My daughter was getting ready to film a commercial for a local consignment shop of childrens clothing. The first thing we heard was that two planes had crashed in the air. A little later we were informed that that information was incorrect and that the WTC had been hit by a plane. We were at a television station when the commerical was filming so there were TV sets to watch. We kept filming the commerical, then everyone was asked to leave. I received a call from my husband on my cell phone. He wanted me to hurry home and let him know when I got there. When I got home I did indeed call my husband to let him know our daughter(age 3 at the time) and I were indeed home safe and sound. I immediately turned on the TV and started to watch the events. I think I was in total shock. I made my daughter go to her room to play. Later in the day I had to go to work. It was very difficult to work that day. Everyone had their radio's on. I had a radio that would receive TV channels. I listened as I worked. Now, I do hug my daughter a little tighter. My husband & I had always given each other a hug and a kiss before we left to start our day before Sept. 11. Now I feel it is even more important. My birthday is Sept. 12. Since 2001, my birthday will not be as happy as before 2001. I will always remember those that lost their lives. God Bless the heros of September 11, 2001 and God Bless the United States of America.
