The little girl gently touching the broken heart shows her sadness and compassion for all those who lost their lives on September 11th, and their loved ones who are left behind. The broken heart accurately portrays the feeling of the remaining family members and loved ones, as well as the rest of us who hurt for them. The little girl also symbolizes the future. She shows that even though our world is so uncertain, as seen through the burning towers, and we now are living with hearts torn apart, which will never fully heal, we have to try to find a way to continue to "go on". Even though life as we knew it has stopped, time keeps on going. We must struggle to find a new way of life for ourselves.
