Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: I can remember that day very clearly. I was at work in Downtown Chicago. I can remember sitting at my desk and my boss saying a plane just hit the World Trade Center!! I thought Oh GOD, another plane crash. And I really didn't think is was as bad as it was until I heard about the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th planes crashing as well. Then I was starting to get concerned about at lot of things. My son's safety (He goes to school right in front of the lake), my safety, and my husbands safety. I remember I just felt numb and my heart just sank. How could this happen? This is America, things like this aren't supposed to happen here!! I thought we were protected from things like this!! Why? and How? can anyone be so heartless and kill so many innocent people? Who would do such a thing? I was literally affraid to be alive that day. I thought that the end was here. I just wanted to run home and hold my family close to me. I left work to pick my son up from school because I didn't want him to ride the school bus home that day. When I got to the school the office told me that his grandmother had already picked him up. By this time I was very shaken. But I went to pick up my 2 daughters from there grandma's house. So innocent, they didn't have a clue what was going on. At that point I wished I was in their shoes. No worries. Oblivious to the dangers America was and is facing. What if someone tried to do something here in Chicago? When I was finally reunited with my family I was very very happy but at the same time very affraid. Affraid that maybe, just maybe this could've been us or would be us. My son is still scared by what happened on September 11, 2001, he doesn't even like to hear about it. Although I am very sad to know that so many innocent lives were stolen that day, I am happy that my family and I are here and well. I feel blessed for everyday that we are able to share together.
