911DA Story: Story
On September 11, 2001 I was doing some lawnwork and feeling very sorry for myself, because just days before I had lost my job of almost 17 years due to downsizing. When my son came out to tell me about the World Trade Center I thought it was the old news story about the bombing of the Trade Center in the 90's. However, he soon set me straight.
After the news sunk in I felt a deep, deep sadness for all the peopledirectly affected and a terrible sense of loss for the citizens of the U.S., because they lost their innocence. Our world would never be the same secure place that it was on September 10,2001.
I also felt terribly ashamed, because I could always find another job, however, the people directly affected would never be able to put the shredded pieces of their lives back together.
