911DA Story: Story

I will never forget! My husband called me shortly after the 1st plane hit the World Trade Center - he had heard the news on the radio. I immediately turned on the television. Within a minute or two of turning on the television, the 2nd plane hit. I can still remember saying "Oh my God, Oh my God". I watched throughout the day. I watched coverage of the plane crashing into the Pentagon, the crash in Pennsylvania and the tragic tumbling of both towers. I remember being drawn to all of the news coverage. I felt helpless but felt that the very least I could do was watch the news coverage, listen to stories of survivors and to the stories of families who lost those so dear to them.

As I watch the 1 year anniversary coverage, I am so proud to be an American. I am proud of America's courage and faith. I am humbled by the graciousness and dignity of families who lost so much and I admire their strength and their willingness to share stories of the lifes lost.

God Bless America and the families who faced such tragedy. May we always remember those lost and the courage of those who saved so many.

Mary Ann Taylor
