911DA Story: Story

I can remember where I was as plain as day. I was just getting out of the shower. I always leave the tv on the news and when I walked into my room my sister was calling me. I had my back turned to the tv and she began telling me what was happening and just as I turned around I saw the second plane hit. It was like the breath was stolen out of my lungs. I have two best friends that live in Balitmore and who are both in the Navy and I immediately thought of them. I then thought of all those poor people who were probably trapped. I began right then to pray silently to myself that everyone was all right.
I knew I had to get to work to find out more of what was going on, and it seemed like the only thing to do. All the way to work I listened to the radio. Switching from station to station looking for some good news about what was happening.
I think I was in shock for almost a month. I slept witht the tv on every night turned to cnn or msnbc. I constantly called my two boys in Balitmore to ensure their safety. I also did a lot of crying. I didn't know anyone who perished in this devasting event, but I love my country and my freedom and I grieved for my fellow americans.
I know I will never know their pain. But they will always be in my heart and prayers. I pray that nothing ever happens like this again. I also thank God for all the brave people who gave their lives trying to save others.
God Bless You All,
and God Bless America,
Jennifer L. Ritchie
