911DA Story: Story
I was home working on some paperwork and my daughter came in from Blockbuster, and the plane had crashed into one of the twin towers and I said, "Wow. That's a big oops!Somebody made a huge mistake." And then we turned on one of the TVs to see what was happening. I guess it took about 10 minutes for it to actually get on and finally another plane had hit the other tower and I realised that it was not a mistake. Someone was doing this on purpose. It was amazing. I could just not believe it. It was more than I could comprehend.
Question 2: How has your life changed because of September 11, 2001?
I just cried. I feel safe now.
Question 3: What do you think should be remembered about September 11?
I think a memorial should be made at each site. A place people where people can meditate and gather thoughts about what happened. For all of the people that were involved, who helped make sure the people that were still alive and OK, the heroes that died.
Question 4: Did you fly an American flag after the events of September 11? Have your feelings about the American flag changed because of these events?
Well, actually, I feel guilty in a way. We tried to fly an American flag and the one that we had was five feet long. There was no way to hang it on the front of the house so I found another flag that I ended up hanging up. I guess the American flag is a nice representation of America, I think, more than anything else.
