911DA Story: Story

Like many others I watched the horror of that day unfold on the television. Still in shock, I walked out front and stood on the green front lawn and looked up at that gloriously beautiful sunny Fall day trying to comprehend the darkness that had invaded our country.

My sons were 15, 14, 13, and 5 at that time.

Now my oldest son is turning 20 and is a United States Marine in 2nd FAST (Fleet Antiterrorism Security Team). He is young, handsome and full of life, yet he has chosen to place himself between us and harm. He, like I, does not believe that it is an accident that our country has not experienced another attack since then. He also knows that it will take constant vigilance to keep it that way.

So thank you Lcpl. Jonathan Schilling USMC 2nd FAST 2nd Plt. for watching out for us as we go about our lives since that day. Thank you ALL men and women of the armed forces who joined before and after 9-11-01. Heros are born here every day. We must keep dialog going and exchange ideas, that is our strenght, but we must NOT let ourselves be divided. UNITED WE WILL STAND.
