I am appalled at the way the event has been used--to justify an unjustifiable war, clamp down on civil liberties, discriminate against innocent Muslims. It just seems to me that it is the universal excuse for doing the wrong thing.
I am also appalled at the politicization of the memorial project. Oklahoma City had a brilliant and moving memorial so soon after the event. I am appalled at the lies Christie Whitman told and the neglect of the health of those who worked so diligently and with such care after the event.
We have compounded from within the damage that was done to us. It was a horrible act of violence but it would seem to have made us turn that violence against ourselves.
