911DA Story: Story
I was sitting in the car on my way to school on September 11th. I was listening to the radio (102.7 fm)like I always do. When I heard the DJ say that the twin towers were hit hit by planes. I thought "What the heck is he talking about! This must be one of their jokes, right?" But then I heard the tone of his voice, he was so serious and quiet. Later, when I was in my first period English class, I saw my teacher leave the radio on. She was quiet and I think she was crying a little. I remember feeling cut off from other people, but for a different reason. I wasn't crying, or feeling sad. I just thought " I feel sorry for the people and their families, but hey!, life goes on" I always felt bad for thinking that and for not feeling any more than I did (I never cried).
One year later, on September 11, 2002, my school had an assembly in memory of that day. They had put together a film with clips of pictures, news clips, and voices of people involoved in September 11th. That day I cried for the first time for the people killed on Sep. 11th. I remembered feeling happy because I finally cried.
