I was busy with normal routine work, when my husband called to tell me that the World Trade Center had been attacked. He then called back several minutes later to tell me the Pentagon had been hit. Chaos erupted in the building. One of my employees' husband works at the Pentagon, she could not reach him.
Because my daughter goes to school on an army base very close to NSA, I was very concerned and I drove like a race car driver to pick her and her best friend up from school. Once safely at home, my husband arrived to take care of my daughter and her best friend.
Because I am a healthcare administrator, I returned to work where we held vigil for the rest of the afternoon, trying to calm my employee as we waited to hear word of her husband. Word came at 4pm, her husband was alive and unhurt.
This tragedy spared me close friends and relatives, but it did not spare me my fellow human beings, my fellow Americans. I grieve for all of them, I pray for them still. May God Bless America and shield us from any further attacks from our enemies.
