Title A name given to the resource September 11 Digital Archive Stories Description An account of the resource This collection is the bulk of the archive, representing the reactions and experiences of thousands of individuals beginning in 2002. 911DA Story 911DA Story: Story Tell us about what you did, saw, or heard on September 11th. Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: Like every other person has said, it was a normal morning I was in eighth grade. I had heard rumors of planes flying into the World Trade Center towers. I had little to no clue what the buildings were but I knew they were big buildings. I didn?t believe the rumors of the planes I thought how on earth could fighter jets fly into two huge buildings. Our school district prohibited the faculty from saying anything, which greatly angered the students, but one teacher allowed the students to look on the Internet for minute-by-minute updates. It was later confirmed by a teacher that airliners hit the buildings. The confusion going through my head was, oh my god there were innocent people on those planes. By that time the towers had also collapsed. I was so confused, and trying to comprehend what was going on while also trying to get through the day. I had no idea what I was about to watch on the TV, and what I was about to realize. When I first walked in the door and turned on the TV I said "thousands of people had to of worked in those buildings..." My oldest brother was attending college at the University of Pittsburgh. The news was reporting a plane down in Pittsburgh; I immediately went into a panic. My family had tried contacting him and his friends were already on their way home. I panicked and just needed a break, away from the news and my family and from the world. I had no idea what effect this event would have on my life and me. I did not know anyone who was killed in the attacks but I was still effected. To this day I think about it everyday and I am still in disbelief of what happened. I am traveling to Europe this summer as a Student Ambassador. My goal is to help the Europeans learn to know what it was like on that horrific day for Americans. I am determined to stand up for the United States and show as many foreigners what it was like. God Bless to all and to the families who lost loved ones, there are no words that I can say to express my feelings of sorrow.
