911DA Story: Story

I had the radio on in my car, waiting at the stoplight to go to the parking area before getting into work. The blurbs through the radio station "One of the World Trade Center towers has been hit....by something....this just in..." My mind raced, my heart sunk, something was very, very wrong. In utter confusion, I got up to the office I worked in and asked, "What is going on?!". Nobody that was already in the office even knew what was happening but quickly tuned into the radio or internet. Immense feelings of sadness and confusion consumed our office building that horrific day and for days to come. Our governor enforced a lockdown on all the state agencies within the metro area and those considered high-risk, were evacuated. I remember thinking, "I want to go home, I want to be with my family" but I couldn't leave the building.
My heart aches still today for every single person that has suffered from this horrific tragedy. May our Higher Powers be with us all.
