Title A name given to the resource September 11 Digital Archive Stories Description An account of the resource This collection is the bulk of the archive, representing the reactions and experiences of thousands of individuals beginning in 2002. 911DA Story 911DA Story: Story Tell us about what you did, saw, or heard on September 11th. Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: I was sitting in my Human Geography class, watching Ferris Bueler's Day off, when the news struck. We turned off the movie and turned on the news. We didn't really comprehend was was happening, at first we thought the plane hitting the WTC was an accident. Then the second plane hit, on national telivision we watched as america was tested to its extreams. I was shocked. A few moments later, the bell rang and the school halls were filled in seconds, however there was somthing different about that few moments in the hallway, it was quiet. The usually noisy hallway, full of clutter and chit-chat was silent. It was the silence of confusion, no one knew what was happening, but somthing hit us hard. The rest of the day was like anyone elses in the United States. Confusion soon turned into concern, concern into panic, panic into depair. Our hearts were torn at the seem, and the blood of patriotism was spilled all around. With such a devistating tradgety on our hands, i believe america emerged as a new nation, hand in hand with all races and genders alike. All those measly political issues and enviornmental uproar was silenced. Nothing has made me more proud to see the american flag posted on every overpass on the highways. America deserves one huge pat on the back, for we emerged victorious. The way 9/11 affected me the most is loosing one of my teachers. She, too, fell victim of the tradgeties, however did not loose her life. She had to drive an hour and a half each way to work, every day, for an entire school year. 9/11 affected her greatly, and she felt a sense of lonliness, when fear struck at the heart of america, she was nowhere near home. She needed to feel a sense of family, so she moved to a school closer to her home town. She was such an inspiring teacher, a great person. West Springfield misses her greatly, and thats what i think about when i think about 9/11.
