911DA Story: Story
I had just finished my early morning class around 9:15 a.m. and I just walked into our school's chapel service held every Tuesday and Thursday. Before the service started one of our professors got on stage and told us that both twin towers and the pentagon had been hit by an airplane. Many were shocked and still, really had no idea just what was happening. Many of us speant the next 1 1/2 service in confusion and concern. I remember after service about 500 students gathered around a large screen TV in student center, watching in disbelief the tragedy that had just taken place. I was very afraid and empathetic and it was still hard for me to believe that this had happened. I spent the rest of the day in one of my friends basements watching CNN. I couldn't do anything else but stare at the TV in disbelief. I remember thinking I just wanted to know where my family was even though none of them were invoved with this tragedy. I remember feeling very grateful for my freedom that I so often took for granted wondering that if it would be taken away and wondering if we wwould be going into war. I have to say that family, friends, and God became very important to me from that point. I remember thinking how blessed we were to have such a great president who was genuinely concerned for his people. I did and still do trust his leadership. My prayers and empathy go out to all families who lost loved ones on that day and for our contry's leaders who are making daily decisions on these issues. I have to admit, even after a year I still feel afraid thinking that another tragedy like this one might soon occur at anytime.
