911DA Story: Story
On the day that we got attacked, I was starting my first day of school. When I first heard about this awful tradegy, all I could think of is trying to get a hold of my brother Ed who works so close to the Pentagon. I was very worried about him. All the phone lines were tied up and could never get a hold of him. After school, driving home, I turned on my radio and listened in horror as people in New York and Washington DC were having they lives shattered! I felt so selfish because all I was worrying about was my brother in D.C when all these other familes were wondering if their loved ones were ever coming back or not. The not knowing is the scariest thing in the human mind! As soon as I reached my mother and father-in-law's house, the first question out of my mouth was "Have you heard from Ed?" He said "yes"! I breathed a sigh of relief. I then went home and my husband told me same thing that I have been hearing all day. I tried fruitlessly to donate blood or to get ahold of my brother. This day is hitting me harder because, I realize now how selfish I was just to think of myself about worrying about another family member when there where thousands of people that were going to have to live the realization that their loved ones were never coming home.
