Tell us your story: I am a stay at home mom and my daughter,Lauryn Alexis Medlin,was born on June 6th,2001.She was only 3 months old when this senseless act occurred.I vividly remember I was sitting on the floor,watching a New York news channel,waiting for the talk shows to come on.I was playing with Lauryn,laughing at her silly expressions and coos when I looked up at the T.V. and saw smoke coming out of the WTC.I stopped everything and turned the volume up so I could hear what happened.At that time they thought it was a private plane and I thought it was an accident.I was glued,praying that no one was hurt inside......at 21 years of age I lost my first husband as a result of a horrific car accident that left me and my first born,my son,C.J.,alone and lost.So I was already emotional about the "accident".Then,I noticed the other plane flying in the cameras view.I was frozen in place as that plane hit the second tower.I grabbed Lauryn,held her tight and cried as hard as I think a human can.I tried to understand "Why" this happened and if it was going to happen closer to home,as we live close to Fort Bragg.I called all of my family to tell them I loved them and battled with my emotions for a long time.My sister in law left school to come here and be with me and Lauryn,and we just cried together. To this day,September 11th is etched in my mind and I often hope that the survivors and the families that were torn apart are coming to grips with the reality and are able to move on.I know it is hard to go on without someone that was a huge part of your life but always know,they love you and are always watching over you and your family.
