911DA Story: Story
I was in disbelief, as I am sure so many people around me were, this just couldn't be happening, surely someone had a sick sense of humor to broadcast such a horrible 'joke' on the radio station! When I went inside, there was the news coverage -- horrible, frightening, and still not a clue about what was really going on. I burst into tears, I'm from New Jersey, and I knew that I lot of people that I had grown up with and graduated from High School with had taken jobs in NYC -- I just couldn't even think who they were, I was so overwhelmed with grief and sorrow.
Yesterday, 11 September 2006, I went to a Dentist's appointment -- dressed in red, white and blue to honor all those who lost their lives in the horrific attacks (along with some black clothing, to show I still am mourning the loss of so many of my fellow Americans) The Dental Assistant, upon hearing my accent, asked my if I had lost any loved ones on that day. "No, I replied, not personally, but there were lives lost which will affect all of us for untold times to come", she agreed and I said a little prayer for the families of the slain, and the families of the survivors, who seem to be forgotten as the event moves from the collective minds of our people.
Let us NEVER FORGET THE EVENTS OF THAT DAY!!!! We have young men and women dying to bring freedom and democracy to countries that have never had such freedoms and democracies ever before, let us support them, love them, and welcome them home with open arms!!!!!
