911DA Story: Story

On the morning of September 11, 2001, I first read about the bombings on my Yahoo! browser. I spent the next six hours scanning the television stations for any reports that would calm my fears. I was driving to Detroit, Michigan that day and I needed some kind of reassurance. As I drove along I-94 from the northshore of Chicago to Detroit, I passed by dozens of flags at half mast. While I was still driving the car, I took a picture of every flag that I saw that day. I'll never forget the rush of mixed feelings I felt as I saw each of those flags flying...a nation united in tragedy...fear of the unknown...sadness over the loss of precious and innocent lives...anger at the thought that someone hates Americans so much...but mostly, I kept asking myself...why...?
