911DA Story: Story

Q.How did you witness history on September 11th? Share your experience.

A."Um...My wife called me up at work and told me a plane hit the World Trade Center, because she was watching the news. So I looked on the Internet to try to find any live coverage, so I would hear updates, and,um,see pictures of the fire after it happened. There was a lot of rumors, from the people in my office about more crashes, so it was difficult to tell the truth or not. Our office was closed early so I returned to watch the events on T.V."

Q.Has your life changed because of September 11, 2001? If so, tell us how.

A."Not directly changed. However, inconveniences in the airport, longer waits is an indirect change."

Q.What do you think should be remembered about September 11th?

A."Um...Well we should remember all the people that died, of course. And that we're not really immune, to terrorist attacks. That events...on the other side of the world can, you know, affect us here. We must realize that our foreign policy may be unpopular, and we must be willing to accept the consequences."

Q.Did you fly an American flag after the events of September 11th?Have your feelings about the american flag changed as a result of September 11th?

A."Yes. I flew a flag. No, the flag is still an important symbol of our country. Either displaying it...well, my belief in and support of the United States,um, does not depend on my displaying of the flag."
