911DA Story: Story

Middlesex NJ-My mother called me at 8:50 on the morning of September 11th to let my co-workers and myself know that a plane had hit the Trade Center. Not much more was known at that time so the meeting was cancelled as we ran to te radio. Noone really knew what to do after the second plane hit and one of my co-workers and Iwere already late for a meeting-so we left. Whitehouse, NJ-The first tower just collapsed-silence-tears-confusion...we left the meeting along with the business men + women we were visiting. The car-tower 2 fell-everyone held each other...people driving with dazed looks upon their faces..everyone rushing to embrace their families. My Nana's House-Bridgewater, NJ-I ran inside and grabbed my baby girl-holding her as I never have-because I was still able to. The rest of the day was spent watching the news...searching for family members in the city...earging my husband to hurry home. Raritan, NJ...we are home now...all together, holding each other...safe and sound. I went up to the attic to find my flag, I hung it outside...for the first time ever while 'God Bless America' played over and over in my mind. That was the day I stoped taking my status as an American for granted...That was the day I BECAME AN AMERICAN.
