911DA Story: Story

It was just another day at the office until my boss came into the room.
I was working at a federal bank in downtown Pittsburgh, across from the tallest building in the city, the USX Tower.
I was in the computer operations room, which is virtually sealed off from the outside world. I first gained knowledge of the events of 9-11 when my boss came into the room and said that he was sending me home. I had no idea what was going on. He then told me about the planes hitting the World Trade Center towers, the Pentagon, and the crash not too far from Pittsburgh, in Shanksville. This was quite a lot of info to take in at one time. Downtown Pittsburgh offices were evacuating in fear of an attack on the city. A skeleton crew was going to be working the computer room and I had to stay at work for two more hours to wait for them. It was very difficult. I could see from my window all of the roads packed with cars leaving the city. The roads were mostly clear on my way home. It was kind of weird to see downtown desserted. When I finally got home I spent the rest of the day with my family taking in all that happened on that tremendous day.
