I was selling tickets for a Middle School Dance at in the school main corridor. A frantic teacher came by and said one of the World Trade Center tower's had been hit by a plane. I thought it had to be an eccentric, pilot who was disoriented in a small plane that had lost his bearings and mistakenly hit the tower. I learned later that it was a major airline that had been hijacked. Then I heard the second tower had been hit. I left the school to go home and watch the news coverage at home. Not sure whether to leave my children in school or gather them up and take them home. I felt like chicken little and the sky might be falling. Or as if I was in an Orsen Wells narration. For certain, I knew the world as I had known it for 43 years would never be the same.
