NMAH Story NMAH Story: Story How did you witness history on September 11th? Share your experience. i witnessed the events of september 11th on television. my mother came upstairs and woke me up. she was crying and the thought that first came into my head was the something was wrong with her. i didn't know exactly how wrong i was yet. i went downstairs to prepare for school like usual. when i got downstairs, i saw what was on the television. i stopped dead and watched in horror as the replay of what had happened played in slow motion right in front of me. it was like what i was watching wasn't real and that it was just a movie. i asked my mom what had happened and she said that there were terroist attacks on the world trade center. it didn't seem real until i got to school and they were showing the event on the televisions in the classrooms. most of my teachers were stunned. but there were some that insisted on continuing with the daily studies to keep our minds off of the terrible ordeall that had just smashed our country. what i remember telling my mother was, "Whoever did this was hoping for us to fall apart and not unite like we have done." NMAH Story: Life Changed Has your life changed because of September 11, 2001? If so, tell us how. my life has changed because of 9/11/01 in the way that i feel an increased amount of patriotism toward my country and i finally realize how lucky i am to live in such a world of freedom that most cannot experience or don't know of. i also respect my family a whole lot more because of the tragedy that snatched up the lovikng parents of the children living at ground zero. NMAH Story: Remembered What do you think should be remembered about September 11th? i think the most important thing that should be remembered is how much love we felt for each other and our country after the events. it's a shame that a massacre is what needed to happen in order for us to respect each other and our government. we need to maintain that type of patriotism that we shared on that day. NMAH Story: Flag Did you fly an American flag after the events of September 11th? Have your feelings about the American flag changed as a result of September 11th? my family went out and got american flags for everyone in our family and hung them proudly. we still have them outside and so do alot of the people on my block. my feelings havn't changed abnout the flag. if anything, the lack of flags have increased my love of it.
