NMAH Story NMAH Story: Story How did you witness history on September 11th? Share your experience. I think that on September 11, our country renewed its patriotism and unity. We have successfully saved ourselves from finacial disaster, and are working on helping countless people to find new jobs while they rebuild the Twin Towers on GroundZero. I remember that I was in the media center of my school, East Grand Rapids Middle School, when I looked up from reading video game magazines and glanced at the T.V. There was a replay of the first and second planes colliding into the towers, causing them both to burst into flames, crumble and fall. It was around 10:00. I had no idea that the center of our economy had almost been obliterated, while I had been blissfully unaware for the past hour! I couldn't believe it! I showed my partner, Alex, the horrible tragedy before our eyes, and he had almost the same reaction. A week later, I found out the name of the man who was behind the plane crashes. Osama bin Laden. I, as well as many other Americans, share an inner loathing for him, and hope that soon, he will meet his demise, preferrably at the hands of a Navy Seal. My best friend, Nathan and I have drawn insulting cartoons of him ever since. In our drawings, he always meets some horrid fate. But, it's more than he deserves. Overall, I think that September 11 is a pinnacle in American history. NMAH Story: Life Changed Has your life changed because of September 11, 2001? If so, tell us how. My life has changed because of this date, to the extents of renewed patriotism, trust in the nation's leaders, and hope for the victims' families and friends, and many other reasons beyond the ones given. I have faith in President Bush and other political heroes, and thank them for holding our country together, despite all of the downfalls. Everyone has had his or her life changed by the day's events. NMAH Story: Remembered What do you think should be remembered about September 11th? I think that among the things that should me remembered are the many police and fire departments that participated in the rescue of the trapped inhabitants of the Twin Towers, the many people who have died inside the building, in the aircraft, and on the ground after the building had collapsed. NMAH Story: Flag Did you fly an American flag after the events of September 11th? Have your feelings about the American flag changed as a result of September 11th? My family did fly a flag for the many fallen citzens who gave their lives to help others escape in the tragedy, and for the dead people who were inside the hijacked planes and inside the building. My feelings about the American flag have changed from an everyday figurehead to a symbol of our unity, perserverance, and trust.
