NMAH Story NMAH Story: Story How did you witness history on September 11th? Share your experience. I was a junior in high school the day of semptember 11. i was returning back from a class when i was stopped in the hall whith someone yelling that someone hit the WTC and that the mall at DC was on fire. I was a little scared but didnt pay much attention to it cuz it seemed outrageous. I got into my next class right after the second plane hit hit. They rest of my school day was all about the attacks. In every class we watched the news or had a disscussion about what was happening. i think the discussions helped me out alot. when i got home i watched some more of the news. My mom was crying for most of the night, even though we had no direct relation to anyone involved. She was scared though for her sister and her family who live in washington DC. The rest of the week was had a aura around it that i dont think i have felt ever before. NMAH Story: Life Changed Has your life changed because of September 11, 2001? If so, tell us how. I dont beleive my life has changed very much. On septmember 11 i was very sad. But soon i got desensitized when tv shows like EXTRA and ET were completely focusing on the events for months to come. I grew to become very sick of the events and i almost felt like they had become easy sappy filler for the media. I have had distast for the whole thing, but after the 1 year anniverary i again feel sorrow. in my soul i believe that the events should be revered on this day ( or days), but not every day of the year. NMAH Story: Remembered What do you think should be remembered about September 11th? about how tragic was. how much of an impact it had on society. i dont think it should be a symbol of our needs to war. I am disgusted how the country reacted in someways after the event ( towards muslims or people of arabic decent). i feel that the nation is almost more ignorant than ever. i have a lot of contridicting feelings. NMAH Story: Flag Did you fly an American flag after the events of September 11th? Have your feelings about the American flag changed as a result of September 11th? no i didnt fly the flag. My family flew the flag but i wouldnt have. I had no reason to because i didnt feel that we had nothing special to be proud of. If you want to salute the firefighters, then fly your flag every day because they do their jobs every day. I do not believe my fealings have changed about the flag much. It has though, in my mind, is less sacred because of it it being manipulated to generate sales.
