As I packed my bag, I checked my e-mail for any last details. I received a message: "I'm sure you've heard the news (if not, you'd better turn on your TV right now). " So I did and watched live as the second plane buried itself into the WTC. We hoped that our trip could continue not knowing the cause or extent of the damage. I find that I have a greater regard for any foreign visitor because we now share a bond of being survivors of terrorist attacks on our fellow countrymen. Many nations lost friends in the WTC attack, I remember that the world, not the US was attacked that day and that we should admire and protect the beauty of this country and the freedom that we have that terrorists fear. NMAH Story: Remembered What do you think should be remembered about September 11th? The loss of innocent souls because others are so filled with hate that they can see nothing else. The lesson that security is no joke, it took the destruction of the WTC to take basic steps to start to insure that these sorts of disasters will not likely happen again. NMAH Story: Flag Did you fly an American flag after the events of September 11th? Have your feelings about the American flag changed as a result of September 11th? No. I bleed red, white and blue. My feelings haven't changed it is a strong symbol of being American, but I fear it can be a hollow symbol if we lose all our trust that most people are good.
