NMAH Story NMAH Story: Story How did you witness history on September 11th? Share your experience. I remember lying awake that morning in bed as the phone call came shortly before 7 AM mountain time. My best friend Mark explained to me that a plane had hit the World Trade Center. I spent the next few minutes talking to him as I watched the news. Moments later I watched live the second plane hit the south tower. I could not believe what I had just seen. At that moment, I remember a horrible and tragic feeling hitting my heart. Although at that moment I knew no one in New York City, it still was heart wrenching to see that. I called my father as I started to head to school. One scene that I will always remember is walking into the student union at New Mexico State University, and seeing a huge mass of students transfixed on the big screen television. The rest of that day played out as many who I saw were very low key and mournful of the events that took place that morning. That will be the day I remember, as Tuesday, September 11, 2001.
