On the 11th, my soon to be wife and I were in Hawaii. we were woken up at around 530 AM, by my mother who was screeming franticly on the phone. I remember Barb jumping out of bed and turning on the t.v. within seconds, she beagn to cry. as i walked into the front room of the hotel, i saw the second building go down. I thought it was a movie. As the news started to ramble on about what had and was happening, I got dressed and drove to the closest bank I could find. There was a long line of people taking money out of the ATM in fear that the banking system would shut down. we were all amazed at what had happened. the last thing i remember of that day, were the surfers on their boards. they were sitting in the middle of the Kehi harbor. i doubt that they knew what was happening, but it looked so surreal to see people surfing as the world as we knew it changed so suddenly. If so, tell us how. i'm still as proud to be an American as i was before, but i think i'm more internal with my patriotism.
