NMAH Story NMAH Story: Story How did you witness history on September 11th? Share your experience. I'm a surgical nurse in St. Louis, MO. We have a small tv in the holding area that the patients can watch while they wait to go into surgery. Shortly after the last patient had left, one of the other nurses ran to the front desk and said that a plane had hit the WTC. I went to watch the tv myself and stood in horror as I watched the second plane hit the towers. My husband Paul had just moved from NYC in 6/01 so I knew that he would have friends affected by this. I did alot of crying for the people I didn't know and alot more for the people left to carry on. NMAH Story: Life Changed Has your life changed because of September 11, 2001? If so, tell us how. Both of our lives have changed. We take nothing for granted anymore. There is not a day that goes by that we don't let our loved ones and each other know how much they are loved. We look differently on world news and events now and wonder when and where the next attack will take place. NMAH Story: Remembered What do you think should be remembered about September 11th? That we, as a society, are at the mercy of society. We need to remember what heroes those men and women were who gave their lives in the Penn. field to spare others. We need to remember that all those that perished have strengthed our resolve and banded us together. We need to remember that the USA is a strong, proud country and we will remain so. NMAH Story: Flag Did you fly an American flag after the events of September 11th? Have your feelings about the American flag changed as a result of September 11th? My parents flew the American flag pretty much on holidays. Since 9/11, it has not come down. It is lighted at night and serves as a reminder that we are proud to be Americans.
