NMAH Story NMAH Story: Story How did you witness history on September 11th? Share your experience. I witnessed the history on September 11th in school. During the time when the event fisrt started, I was in my Language Arts class. We were studying a few vocabulary words, and ironically we were defining the word "heinous" as the first plane crashed into the tower. I remember thinking that this could never happen, but it was. It was very hard to grasp the fact that I was living in an important piece of history. I remember going on throughout the day with ample information of the event. The principle told the teachers not to give a lot of the facts out because they were scared that maybe a student would freak out. My uncle works in New York City, about 2 blocks away from Ground Zero. I was so scared that he might have gone through the subway or the train that lead to the World trade Center. Luckily, he drove that day, and he was stopped at the bridge as he heard about the horrific happenings. As I got home, I remember walking up the stairs, hearing the frantic news reporters giving the information about the event. So all I really did was pray that night, for all the victims, heroes, and overall, America. NMAH Story: Life Changed Has your life changed because of September 11, 2001? If so, tell us how. Yes, in my life, I've never seen anything so horrible. It definetely changed my life because now our nation has been changed forever in way that no one thought it would be. It's sad because just shows how it has to take a tragic event like this to bring our nation closer. I believe that now, whenever we look up at a low flying plane, we will automatically remember the events that happened on that fateful day. NMAH Story: Remembered What do you think should be remembered about September 11th? I think we should remember the entire event, the victims, the heroes, the people that lost a loved one, and also President Bush, and how he handled the tragedy so well. I, myself will never ever forget the moment where a news reporter said, "This is a day in which history has changed. September 11th, 2001." NMAH Story: Flag Did you fly an American flag after the events of September 11th? Have your feelings about the American flag changed as a result of September 11th? Yeah, I put a flag in our living room window. I think my opinion about our flag changed a lot because now, I don't see a piece of cloth with stars and stripes, now, I see a flag that represents our freedom and our liberty.
