NMAH Story NMAH Story: Story How did you witness history on September 11th? Share your experience. I was at my desk in Boston, MA when my mother had called me to tell me that my brother was witnessing the plane crashes in NYC from his office building. At first, I thought it wasn;t anything serious. But then, chaos ran through my office and televisions were blasting the news. Watching my co-workers faces was something very emotional. Many tried to get through via phone to their loved ones in NYC, but couldn't get through. Our loudspeaker came on and advised us all to go home. Our building is next to one of the most famous in Boston, the Prudential Center. I was just at a loss for words. My friends and I just left the building, some climbed down 17 flights of stairs, while we took the elevators. We stopped in a local hardware store on the way home and watched the towers collapse. This was something our minds and hearts just couldn't comprehend. NMAH Story: Life Changed Has your life changed because of September 11, 2001? If so, tell us how. Today, 1 year later, I have lost my job at that office and am sitting at work at another office, wondering how we are all here conducting business. I cry at every site on the internet, every song on the radio. It's truly an incredible event that took place. I hope we all never forget it. I also look at life and don't think so trivially anymore, or at least try not to. NMAH Story: Remembered What do you think should be remembered about September 11th? We should remember how free we are and how other countries are threatened by our laws. We should remember the firefighters and police and courageous people on those flights and in those buildings who all worked together in helping each other. NMAH Story: Flag Did you fly an American flag after the events of September 11th? Have your feelings about the American flag changed as a result of September 11th? I keep an American flag on my car and always replace it when it looks faded. It was so nice to see every car and building house a flag. This means we are all together on this one!
