NMAH Story NMAH Story: Story How did you witness history on September 11th? Share your experience. I was in my bed trying to sleep off my post summer drowsiness when my mom knocked on my door for a milisecond before bursting in and instructing me to turn on the TV. When I did I saw the gut wrenching view that millions across the world saw with me. I turned on just after the second plane hit the building. It was almost surreal to me. The news was saying "it is not confirmed to be a terrorist attack" but all the while i was screaming at myself, "You idiots, two passenger jets just slammed into the shining icon of New York City and you say its NOT CONFIRMED!". I just sat in this bewilidered, irrated stupor, staring at the image on the screen. That is, until that first tower disintegrated in a feral storm of dust and debris. The news people were saying all along with their stupid human masks on their face, "It is believed that the top of the first tower has now collapsed". I knew, however, that it wasn't just the top. Something that size doesn't just fracture to collapses and instantly I thought of all the people who must have been on that building this busy work day. Soon after the second tower fell it was time for me to go to school and reluctantly I agreed. What I found at school horrified me nearly as much as the acts themselves. Nearly all of my highschool peers were laughing and playing and having a gay'ole time while there were thousands of people and bodies stuck under tons and tons of steel and concrete. I just wanted to scream "WHAT THE HELL IS YOUR PROBLEM!", but in the end I decided it was probably best just to keep my mouth shut. THe school day was filled with meetings and group talks and emotion probing but I just floated through the day, thinking nothing that was going on right now was nearly as important as what was going on at that site of so much distruction NMAH Story: Life Changed Has your life changed because of September 11, 2001? I think all the bravery of the people who risked their lives to help others to get out of the fateful towers and t heir fallen carcasses should be commerated because those people are the only true heroes, those who save life rather than take it.
