I was on a walk in my small nieghborhood in North Fla. with my 18 month old in a stroller when a workman told me that a plane flew into one of the twin towers. I remember thinking how could someone make such a mistake? Then about 20 houses later a nieghbor came out and told me that a second plane had flown into the other tower. I even then had trouble beliving that it wasn't some freak accident. I went home and spent the next 2 weeks with the TV on cnn as much as I could. When in the car, I listened to NPR. I went that very afternoon and bought a large flag for our house and many little ones for my 4 children. I am still almost always in tears when I hear stories and patriotic songs.I often find myself unable to express my anguish as well as my patriotism. I don't think that it was really taught to me in school or at home. NMAH Story: Life Changed Has your life changed because of September 11, 2001? If so, tell us how. I'm now much more afraid of "things". Following the attacks, someone dropped baby powder in the parking lot of my childrens elemetry school and it had to be tested. CDC, the police dept and the fire dept had to be called and the area taped off, They sent a note home to all the parents I couldn't help wondering what was happening to our nation, to our familys. I look at every lonesome bag in a different way, am worried about going to events that may be big enough to attract attacks NMAH Story: Remembered What do you think should be remembered about September 11th? ALL the people lost I am so thankful for the firefighters and police men, they truly are heros but all the others were Heros in their own right as well. NMAH Story: Flag Did you fly an American flag after the events of September 11th? Have your feelings about the American flag changed as a result of September 11th?
