NMAH Story NMAH Story: Story How did you witness history on September 11th? Share your experience. On the morning of September 11, 2001 I went to school like any other day. After a few hours there; however, it was obvious this day was unlike any other before. I was in a chemistry lab doing an experiment when my teacher told all of us that we had the rest of the class off, that a plane had flown into the World Trade Center. Each one of us immediately ran to the computer lab and got the lastest images available throughout the day. Rumors were numerous and some were very far fetched. Later that day I was picked up at school and went home to be safe, and think about what I had just witnessed. During this day I woried about many close to me. My mother was leaving on a plane from Logan on September 11, but was safe. My uncle works in the Empire State Building and I feared that may be the next target. Both of them are fine now, but the thought of losing them then was in the front of my mind. NMAH Story: Life Changed Has your life changed because of September 11, 2001? If so, tell us how. NMAH Story: Remembered What do you think should be remembered about September 11th? I think the bravery shown by the firefighters who lost their lives is the biggest part. That they do not get enough appreciation, pay, or equipment. That baseball players are not the best role models, and that firefighters are. Complete strangers that would give their lives for me, thats special. I also think that patriotism and all that America has done to not let terrorism, which to succeed must intimidate and frighten, win. NMAH Story: Flag Did you fly an American flag after the events of September 11th? Have your feelings about the American flag changed as a result of September 11th? Yes, my family now flies a flag outside. My feelings about the flag have not changed, but what it represents has. I never believed America could come together like it has in this one year. I feel more pride in my country then ever before. My favorite saying concerning the flag has become the bumber-stciker that reads "These colors dont run."
