NMAH Story NMAH Story: Story How did you witness history on September 11th? Share your experience. It was Tuesday September 11, 2001, about 9:10 in the morning when I was sitting in home room. As usual I sat staring blankly into a notebook wondering "Gee, what am I going to do? Life stinks!" My head rose from my notebook and up to the television where Channel One news had usually played, only this time it was something different. Mr. Slampak had on CNN and there on the screen was a building in flames! I had no idea what it was that was going on or even if it was real, "maybe some new special effects from a movie?", I thought to myself. That was when a voice came over the television. It was the voice of a reporter saying frantically that "A plane has just struck one of the twin towers!" It was then that a second airplane flew into the second tower. Screams from the panicked people on the streets of New York coming from the television rang throughout the classroom. That was the point where I realized what was happening. It was history in the making. Our country was being attacked by terrorists! The news was absolutely terrifying, every person that had heard of the news was in a panic. It was not until second period that news of two more plane crashes was learned. When news of the plane crash in the nearby town of Shanksville Pennsylvania reached us, chills filled everybody around, almost as if their blood ran cold. Then I realized how stupid my thinking earlier had been, that life was just so hard. It took this tragedy to actually wake me up and become aware of how thing in the world really were. We all thought because we lived in the great United States of America that nothing could harm us, but that was so untrue. This was such a horrible experience for all of us, yet strangely it took such tragedy to bring us all together. Living through this experience has made us all stronger, and as long as we live nobody will ever forget what happened on that day. How such tragedy turned into love, faith, and hope for the entire nation. This day in history will truly never be forgotten.
