NMAH Story NMAH Story: Story How did you witness history on September 11th? Share your experience. I was a sophomore in high school when I first heard the news of the terrible events. It was a little after 8:00 A.M. when a teacher walked into my class and said that we were being attacked. The first thought that went through my mine was blank. What did he mean by "attacked"? Soon after that my teacher was on the computer pulling up pictures of planes crashing into the World Trade Center. All you could see were two large clouds of smoke as the buildings began to collapse. Then there was another plane that crashed into the Pentagon and one more into a field in Pennsylvania. In all my classes we watched news coverage of the attacks. It was hard to believe that something like this could happen. Throughout the day I learned more and more about what was going on. Terrorists had taken over the planes and deliberately planned to crash them into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. The pictures and coverage of New York was very sad to watch. NMAH Story: Life Changed Has your life changed because of September 11, 2001? If so, tell us how. It has in some way but I can't describe how. NMAH Story: Remembered What do you think should be remembered about September 11th? I think everyone should remember this date for as long as they live. This date should never be forgotten. All the people that risked and lost their lives should be remembered as heros. People should know how lucky they are to be able to live in a country that is strong and free to believe and do what they want to. NMAH Story: Flag Did you fly an American flag after the events of September 11th? Have your feelings about the American flag changed as a result of September 11th? The American flag to me is a symbol of strength and freedom. The American flag is a symbol of the diversity of people we have in the United States. It's a symbol of the United States that offers new hope and beginnings to others anywhere in the world. The people that hate us are those who are against the idea of freedom and peace.
