NMAH Story: Story

As the events of September 11th unfolded, I was teaching my 4th grade class. A co-worker called me out into the hallway to tell me that a plane had hit the World Trade Center Tower. At first I could not believe someone or group could do such a thing. Then it became real as rumors flew throughout our school building that there were planes all over the U.S. that could have terrorists on them as well. What was I supposed to do the rest of the day with my 24 students? Would recess be safe? How could I explain something to them that I did not understand myself? In my 28 years of life, I have never experienced anything like this before.

NMAH Story: Life Changed

NMAH Story: Remembered

I think we should remember all of the innocent people that died. Memorial services should be held but also a celebration of life. We cannot let those terrorists think that we will not go on living because of what they did to all of our loved ones. By living our lives, we win, not the terrorists.

NMAH Story: Flag

I flew my American flag before the events of September 11 as well as after. I think I became more patriotic after September 11th buying anything red, white, and blue. I am proud to be an American and I want everyone to know it!
